The Lake District and the Local Woods

    A few weeks ago we went to the Lake District, We had a great time. Here are some of the things we         found:


    A carnivorous plant,  Common Butterwort!
    Pinguicula vulgaris
    Red-Breasted Merganser.
    Mergus serrator
    Yellow Pimpernel
    Lysimachia nemorum
    Glistening Inkcap
    Coprinellus micaceus
    Unknown, possibly Bog Bell. Galerina Paludosa.
    Greater Spotted Woodpecker on a bird feeder.
    Very nice Match-stick lichen
    Unknown Butterfly, a Fritillary of some type?
    All of the following were taken in the Leigh Woods area near Bristol.
    Common Spotted Orchid.
    Dactylorhiza fuchsii
    Lesser Butterfly-orchid! This Orchid is rare and in decline.
    Platanthera bifolia
    Pyramidal Orchid.
    Anacamptis pyramidalis

    I was going to say that this is the white variation, but normal white variations are more white than this.

Finds From the Past Week.

    I bought myself an new camera! It's a Fujifilm Finepix HS30exr capable of 1cm macro focusing and 
    a max zoom of 720mm (30x).

Wild Devon.

We hired a cottage in Devon for a few days.
I really enjoyed my time there! :-D
Here are the things we saw on our walks:
    A very nice Wood Blewit (not growing in woods). :-p
    Lepista nuda.
    I'm pretty sure these are White Spindles.
    Clavaria fragilis.
    A greeny-grey Parrot Waxcap.
    Hygrocybe psittacina.
    Apricot Club.
    Clavulinopsis luteoalba.
    Parasol!
    Macrolepiota procera.

    Two very nice waterfalls! :-)

    Crimson Waxcap, it looks really nice.
    Hygrocybe punicea.
    A very nice, green Parrot Waxcap.
    Geoglossum cookeanum.
    Occasional.
    Yellow Fieldcap.
    Bolbitius titubans.
    We saw these on the beach, I think a type of worm makes them. I'm no expert though. ;)
