Today I caught the train to Roggiet and then walked to Caldicot Castle seeing many flowers on the way, including this Broomrape.
Broomrapes are parasites they cannot produce their own food as they have no Chlorophyll so they grow on the roots of other plants,
there are many different types but I'm not sure which one this is as it was too old to identify, but a week or so ago I found a different Broomrape and was able to identify it as Common Broomrape.I didn't get a picture as I didn't have my camera with me at the time.
